In case you didn’t notice the front vents on your Type 34 were painted black (most likely flat black) If you painted your dash this might have been covered during your restoration process. (see photo below)

The purpose of the this was two-fold:

1) To prevent the sun from reflecting off the vents and blinding the driver.

2) To make the upper dash area appear entirely black when applying the vinyl covering on top of it.

When reassembling your interior make sure you paint the vent area as in the photo below.

It will ensure that the color of your dash area does not peek through the vinyl covering. (see photo below)
