If you’re a regular visitor to The Registry you would have noticed that the blogs section has undergone a bit of a change. The old ‘MyBlog’ blogging software has now been replaced with WordPress, not that there was really anything wrong with the old software, it’s just that we like to make sure our members have access to the best. ;)

So what is WordPress? WordPress is pretty much the number one solution for self managed blogging on the web today. Not only is it pretty to look at, but it is also fully extendable, with a range of widgets and plugins to help you to customize it to your liking. It delivers content in a variety of ways allowing users to create and manage media galleries, and easily embed images and videos into posts. WordPress pretty much sum it up themselves when they say that it is an ‘elegant, well-architectured personal publishing system’ and this is why we have chosen to use it for the blogs section on our site.

Phillip completely restored the Ghia in 1991 since then he has covered over 230,000 Miles!! With 2 First place trophies at Kelly Park and a car that still looks fantastic 200,000 miles after the restoration, it really is an inspiration. Make your Ghia run faster with a new Type 34 Registry sticker!*

Well, the first 3 weeks of our new website have been a huge hit. We’ve had over 3,000 visits to the site which is about three times as many Type 34s as there are known to exist! We had a minor glitch that took the site offline for almost a whole week, but even with that the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

The first thing we wanted to add to the site is the Official Type 34 Mailing List. So, now if you look to your left you should see a link to it. Feel free to come over and sign up. This will not be a HUGE traffic list, but you should expect to get between 0 and 30 emails a day of Type 34 related stuff. If you have technical questions, feel free to ask them there. If you have questions about a particular car, ask away. If you want to know about the next event to bring your Type 34 too, that’ll be a place to get the info. Of course, all of this info can also be posted or read about in our Forums. But we know that some people prefer to talk via email. This list will be Moderated by our own long-distance (to us) member Daniel Baum. He was running a Type 34 Mailing List already, so we thought it would be a great match.

Read more below to get some more info on upcoming changes and additions to the site.

Type 34 Ghias were NEVER imported to the USA by Volkswagen, right? Robert and Sharon Dervin’s Early 1962 Type 343 might just disagree with that, and has the paperwork to back it up!
